____________________________
There is one photo that stands out as the one I've shared the most with my online coaching clients. I've finally made a video about it, including two additional client stories. These three examples illustrate how simple sorting paper can be, especially in the early stages.
It's easy to feel overwhelmed when staring at surfaces, or even rooms, full of paper. You probably know that if you keep hundreds or thousands of papers, they should end up in dozens of categories, files, and containers. This is exhausting to juggle in your head, especially when faced with the task of culling them as you work. This fuzzy vision for your filing future keeps you from acting at all. The result: grueling work at best, inertia at worst.
Having sat with countless new clients who feel defeated on day one, I've time-tested 2-3 simple categories that help us sort at lightening speed. With these, we don't get caught up in what the final system will look like. We keep it moving. Anyone can do this and I encourage you to do it before buying any organizing supplies. It's not always the final sort, but rather, the pivotal one that breaks inertia.

    How did this come to me❓I am super organized but my daughter is high anxiety, overwhelmed and sinking which is destroying her 😕 if I try to help she worries it will upset the volcano. Showing her your video hopefully will let her let me help her to at least start the process and give her tools to cope. You have given me the knowledge of how to ease her stress on top of easing the load. What a double blessing 🤗❤️👍🏻

    Yes, this is going to be sooooo useful. I just found you with this video. I recently found The Clutter Lady and she has a process where you take a month to tackle one category. Categories include clothes for a month, kitchen for a month, etc and one category is paper. So then you are motivated to get that project done because there’s a doable time limit. I definitely have paper to deal with and now I have your methods to help when I get to that category. Thank you, thank you.

    Hi Kacy.. I just came across your channel and I HAVE to ask... are you related to Alejandra TV, another professional organizer? When your video popped up, I thought it was her.. you look so much alike and both of you explain and illustrate organization skills so clearly. I have saved so many of her videos to watch again - and now I have yours to add to my organizational ideas folder. Great explanations and tips. Thank you.... Nancy in Texas 😃

    Sounds like you walked into my office. I am so happy that UA-cam recommended your videos. I decided on Sunday I’d work on my office. I can’t tell you how much this will help me through the process. I have 2 different businesses plus married and hubby’s job requires him to use personal papers for recertification every year and he goes to school. On top of that all we have the daily paper regarding our home. Needless to say we are buried in paper. Excellent video. Thank you.

    Way, way back I used Marie Kondo's technique for organizing my paper and the number one reason it worked for me was it came from an authority. I think Ms. Paide here with her years of working with clients and sharing her work with them gives her the authority I would trust. I love how she anticipates issues and redirects the viewer to a more productive route. Progress not Perfection! Thanks for making your information available to the masses!

    Always helpful… Sometimes when I look at my file categories I question the hierarchy… for example… should “car insurance” be with I for insurance or in the c for car… in other words should all car-related files, repairs, copy of latest inspection, etc. be together? It seems like an unending loop sometimes.😹🥸Any thoughts on best practices here?! 🌹

    • @KacyPaide
      @KacyPaide 8 днів тому

      You absolutely could. The lesson here is to keep it as painfully simple as possible, so you don't hit any speed bumps of "what should I do with this?" If separating biz from everything else is fast and easy, then do this as early as possible.

    Very helpful and motivating. Simplifying the categories down to two or three to get started is brilliant! I’ve been going through my papers for a few years now, and I still have those papers that you have identified for me, as the active files category, and they are not organized into any files. Just stacks of paper. I tend to keep a couple months worth of bills paid and I don’t have a separate file for that, so I’m going to implement that today. Thank you for this video! 😊

      I have a list of case study videos I want to do where I share single clients' journeys from mess to organized, spotlighting the combination of solutions we set-up in each space. Thanks for the reply!

      @@KacyPaide I basically got rid of 99.9% of e-mail newsletter subscriptions. I'm still subscribed to yours, so that's saying something. 🌻

      @@nula14 That means so much! I always try to put out truly meaningful info with the newsletter. I only wish I had time to get back to sending them at least 2x monthly.

      @@KacyPaide You're very welcome :-) I appreciate your response! While social media is overrun by fake people, you're so refreshingly normal, and I enjoy your down-to-earth, sincere approach to organizing. You've helped me a lot! So, I'll be sticking around, no matter how many videos you post or how many newsletters you send :-)
